Welcome to the
We specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a goal-oriented approach that focuses on changing unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. Patients are either matched with a licensed therapist or are offered group services. Statutory and private health insurance cover the costs of our services.
Numerous empirical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy across the entire lifespan. The basic idea is that experiences shape our thinking and behaviour. However, these learned patterns of thought and behaviour may lead to problems in the here and now. In an atmosphere characterized by compassion, appreciation, openness and respect, we first seek to understand how the current problems have arisen and why they persist. We then teach coping and change strategies, which patients are encouraged to practice outside of the sessions. Personal information shared during the therapy sessions is strictly confidential.
As providing the best possible care for our patients is our top priority, we continually evaluate and develop our treatment approaches.
We routinely conduct scientific studies to expand our knowledge of psychiatric disorders, improve current treatment methods and develop new, more effective treatments. At the beginning of each course of therapy, we provide information on how detailed initial and follow-up assessments as well as the video recording of therapy sessions may help to improve therapeutic outcomes. The Psychotherapy Centre also regularly offers opportunities to participate in novel interventions.
As a university, we are responsible for ensuring the future of psychotherapeutic care. The involvement of skilled student clinicians during assessments and treatment is an essential part of clinical training. Following current standards and under the intensive guidance and supervision of experienced licensed psychotherapists, student clinicians carry out diagnostic interviews and tests, accompany therapy sessions and design individual therapy elements.
