Study participation

The outpatient clinic is affiliated with the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents at the Department of Psychology. In the lab, we research the causes of mental disorders in children and adolescents and develop new treatment options. Our work aims to answer three main questions:

Why do psychiatric disorders often co-occur, and how can diagnostic tools and treatment concepts reflect the comorbidity and heterogeneity of mental disorders?

How does the brain develop in childhood and adolescence, and can we use this knowledge to prevent psychiatric disorders?

Can we minimize waiting times and disruption to everyday life through short-term therapies (1-12 sessions) and take advantage of modern technology to optimize treatment outcomes?

To answer these questions, we need your support as study participants!

Current studies

Irritability is a common, debilitating symptom that cuts across diagnostic boundaries and predicts suicidality as well as future depressive episodes and anxiety disorders. To develop effective treatments for irritability and ease the burden on youth and their families, we study the neurobiological correlates of irritability and frustration.

In our outpatient clinic, clinical and research activities are intertwined. We want to understand how psychotherapy works and which psychotherapeutic elements are most effective. We would be grateful for your support of this work.
